Information for the Santa Barbara Fourth of July parade, SATURDAY July 4th 2015.

We meet at the “Santa Barbara Motorpool” 820 East Ortega Street, SB, starting at 0930 and depart from there in convoy at 1030. To get to the Motorpool, exit 101 freeway at Milpas Street, proceed carefully into the traffic circle and drive north on Milpas Street approximately 8 city blocks to Ortega. You will see jeeps and GI’s on the corner, left side of the street. We leave our POV’s here. If you bring your family, they might want to drop you off and drive downtown and get parking near State Street for viewing the parade. They will be early enough so they will get both good parking and a good location for viewing the parade. Your family is welcome to join us in the parade. We ask that you dress them up enough that it doesn’t make us all look farby. Kids often come as French kids, orphans,  or refugees.  Wives and girlfriends wear HBT’s and HBT caps or Daisy Mae’s. Bearded brothers-in-law come as French resistance, etc.

We have more than enough MV’s so that anyone who wants to ride (rather than walk) will be able to ride. All Allied field impressions are welcome. We convoy to our parade staging area and then wait about an hour or so for the parade to begin at 1 PM. There are convenience stores and markets where we stage so you can get food and beverages. If you can not get to the Motorpool by 1030 to join the convoy, you can meet us at the staging area (corner of State St. and Micheltorena) right up to the step-off time at 1 PM. The parade is approximately one mile in length and all downhill.and the sun is to our backs  This is a great city, fabulous weather, and a very patriotic, American audience. Santa Barbara loves us.
Following the parade, we all park on State Street for a public static display for about an hour and a half. (Some of you may choose to leave now.)  There are bars and restaurants up and down this block of State Street. Literally thousands of people come to see us and the  MV’s. Around 3 PM we will go to the Veterans’ Memorial building at the harbor.

Santa Barbara has fireworks at the beach at 9 PM. Those of us who wish to stay for the fireworks will have front row seating at the Veterans Hall

All Allied WWII impressions are welcome.
Participants can either walk or ride in the MV's.
MV's do not need to be pre-registered this year.

Plan of the day:
Line up no later than 12 noon. Parade begins at 1 PM
Following the parade, we park on lower State Street for an hour or more and interact with the public.
At approximately 3 pm we convoy to the beach and park in front of the Veterans Bldg.
